Bringing you your A/A ’19 Working Wardrobe Without Breaking the Bank..
As the colder months fast approach, there is one thing on (most) of our minds – a wardrobe renovation.
As young professionals, we are too quickly exiled into a realm of fashion faux pas. Given that our budget barely stretches to a lunchtime stop at Subway followed by a Costa Coffee, this is no big surprise.
Have no fear! I have scoured the internet to find some staple pieces at reasonable prices to revamp your look; be ready to impress at the office from Monday morning to Friday afternoon.
- The Blazer
Blazers have undoubtably made a comeback in 2019, and there’s no reason to leave them behind as we enter the final months of the year. Blazers are a great way to embody style whilst oozing professionalism. My advice- go for checkered prints and stripes as opposed to the usual block colours to add some individuality.
- The Hat
Hats have been a winter staple since the beginning of time. The good news is you don’t have to look far or break the bank to find a great bucket or beret. Hats spice up any outfit and can look much more expensive than they really are (we won’t tell if you don’t…)
- The Above-Average Jumper
Again, jumpers are old news. But I’m talking about the eccentric jumper- the eyecatcher, not the old cream coloured knit in the back of the closet. A knit with a pop of colour is the perfect accessory to brighten up those winter mornings. I would partner with a long-line coat and some fitted black trousers.
- The Black Boot
Black boots have been huge over the summer season, and not just for festival-goers. Shops are awash with choice. Whether you prefer an ‘out there’ biker boot complete with eccentric detail, or you’re more of a classic snake print girl. There really is something for everybody. Chunky winter boots have the winning combo in the bag- comfort AND style! Not to mention, the durability of a good pair of boots can take you from season to season without putting too much of a strain on our pockets.
- The ‘Classic’ Knit
Take the word ‘classic’ with a pinch of salt. I have been loving pastel knits and co-ords as we approach autumn. A knitted skirt sounds like the closest thing to wearing a blanket to work I can imagine- so I am all for it! Plus, the beauty of a co-ord is the mix and match element, one hundred outfits can be created from them if you use your imagination.
6. The Biker Jacket
The leather jacket is something we have all fallen in love with at one point or another. My current favourite look is an oversized biker jacket layered with a jumper and some gold jewellery. However, if you do prefer the fitted look there is still so much you can do- I would opt for a printed midi skirt, plain white t-shirt and a headscarf to complete the look.
Hopefully these pieces have given you a taste of autumn inspiration and a place to start. May your venture into A/W 19’ collections be one filled with cost-effective ease!
